"Walking in the footsteps of our ancestors to guide your birth journey"

Meet your Birthworker
Greetings!
My name is Lisa Marie and I am native to Fresno, California, born and raised in the Central Valley. Fresno is well-known for its scorching summers and its role as a leading exporter of crops such as raisins, oranges, pistachios, poultry, and cattle. In fact, we even have a chili pepper named after our city, called the Fresno Chile.
Before embarking on my journey in birth work, I wore various hats that provided me with knowledge in the medical field and the justice system. As a huge animal lover (my initial job was at a veterinary hospital), I earned my AS degree in Veterinary Technology in 2009. Following several years in the veterinary field, I pursued further education and obtained my Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 2016. After graduating, my first job involved working at a group home where I assisted teenage girls placed in the foster system, both pregnant and not. In fact, I was so passionate about making a difference that my spouse and I welcomed one of the girls into our home as foster parents. Throughout the years, I have worked with children with Autism and dedicated myself to saving as many animals' lives as possible.

In my personal life, my home is enriched with numerous beloved animals, and I have yet to have children of my own. However, I take immense pride in being the doting auntie to two nieces, one of whom graced us with her presence in 2021. She holds a special place in my heart and serves as one of my greatest inspirations in my role as a birthworker. When the opportune moment arrives, I eagerly anticipate sharing my knowledge and wisdom with her, nurturing her own path in life.
Being Indigenous (Yaqui) and Mexican I possess unique customs when it comes to birth work. Therefore, I have consciously decided to embrace a variety of holistic methods within my offerings. Within Indigenous cultures, pregnancy and birth are viewed as a rite of passage, a sacred ceremony where women are to be honored and respected for carrying life within their vessels. Birth is the transition from the spiritual realm to the physical realm and should be celebrated and revered in honor of the new life entering the world. As a Birthworker, my objective is to pay tribute to the wisdom of my ancestors by offering nurturing and holistic care to women and their families throughout the journey of childbirth.
